The children in Y5 had the exciting opportunity to meet the author and illustrator Martin Impey at the library. They heard all about the inspiration behind his first published book ‘Blitz – One Family’s War’, how he used memories of the stories his grandparents told and photos and artefacts from the WW2. The children saw the journey it took to bring characters to life by watching Martin sketch them live. There were many examples of sketches and final pieces that the children saw within the talk that they the saw on the pages of the book. They listened carefully while Martin read a few pages and then asked excellent questions.
