Key Stage 1 had a fantastic time travelling back in time at Pontefract Castle! We helped the servants prepare the castle for their very important visit from the King and Queen! We wrote menus using ink and quills, prepared medicines and mixtures to look after the King and Queen, and sorted through objects to make sure they were in good enough condition to be presented to the King and Queen. The servants took us on a wonderful journey through the castle, highlighting all of its magnificent features and the purposes of these. At the end of our brilliant visit, the servants told us the most entertaining story about the King’s messenger who came to deliver the news that the King and Queen were coming to stay. We had the most wonderful time.
